SAMIR FADHIL AHMED
Born on November 27, 1991, in Mombasa, Kenya, East Africa, on the same day as Jimi Hendrix and Bruce Lee.
Samir "Jam" Fadhil Ahmed is of Kenyan and Swiss descent. His father, Fadhil Ahmed, a Kenyan native, had a passion for Reggae, Soul, and Funk music and was also a DJ in Kenyan clubs. His mother, hailing from Switzerland, had a strong affinity for Funk, Soul, R&B, and Pop music, which greatly influenced Samir during his formative years.
1996
In kindergarten, he always had a penchant for helping his classmates, often being unfairly labeled as a troublemaker as a result. Consequently, he had to attend introductory classes. Despite prevailing prejudices, Samir displayed fluency in reading at an early age. His innate musical aptitude was also evident from an early stage.
He soon devoted his life to hip-hop culture and rap music.
It was commonplace for him to take his father's mobile phone and set everything up. When his parents purchased a VHS player, he immediately knew how to operate it, enabling him to record videos from MTV & VIVA primarily.
Upon returning home from kindergarten during lunch breaks, his sole focus was delving into his parents' vinyl and CD collections. His mother often had to coax him to eat, as he was engrossed in the stereo system. While most children would eagerly anticipate lunchtime to refuel before returning to kindergarten, Samir, known by his given name, deliberately allocated this time for music even at that young age.
March 8, 2003, at Dynamo in Zurich
At the age of 12, Samir had his first rap performance at Dynamo, Zurich. He was the youngest MC of the evening. His colleague and then-music partner secured him the opportunity to perform. His rap performance garnered widespread applause, seemingly saving the night. His advantage lay in the fact that all other MCs rapped in Swiss German or standard German.
Summer 2007
After just a few performances, Samir decided to stop rapping.
One day, when his brother brought home the "Magix Music Maker" software, he became solely interested in making beats. Later, another friend introduced him to "Propellerheads Reason." With this software/DAW, he could produce higher-quality beats. Within a few months, JAM achieved rapid results, and word quickly spread about his talent as a music producer.
"I've produced drum packs for platinum producers and beats for 3x Grammy winners."
2009-2013
Ghosthall with Vasco Bachmann: Recommended by a friend, JAM worked in one of Switzerland's largest studios, Ghosthall Studios in Bubikon, Zurich Oberland. There, he further honed his skills, producing beats and recording artists.
2012
Samir Ahmed worked as a light jockey and sound technician in various Zurich clubs such as Prive (formerly St. Germain), Jade, Amber, and Station.
Among others, he set up for:
Kanye West
DJ Snake
The Product G&B
MIMS
For rapper MIMS, JAM assisted in authenticating the drums and 808s. However, he received no credits or compensation, prompting him to focus on forging his own path.
A few months later, The Product G&B recorded a song on one of JAM's beats, but the song was never released due to poor quality recordings. To this day, the material remains available, but there are songs that will never see the light of day.
2014
JAM met a Swiss DJ with whom he remixed Leftside's "Phat Punani," titling the remix "Twerk Punani."
2017
Jam, together with him and two rappers, produced the main theme for "The Dance" 2017. The show was broadcasted at the Hallenstadion Zurich, one of Switzerland's largest event halls.
2018-2021
In 2018, through another good friend, JAM met a singer - Lerome Swiss. They instantly became good friends, and JAM committed to dedicating his time for free to develop him. They have already written and produced many songs together.
2019
JAM has also sent beats to Grammy Award winner Jacob Luttrell through Lerome's contacts to further develop song ideas. However, none of the songs are online yet.
2020
One of the demo songs was already in talks for the Billboard charts, but that remains uncertain.
Currently, JAM is working on his own projects, including collaborations with Lerome Swiss.
His goal is to collaborate with major artists. In the music business, connections are crucial. Therefore, he decided to move to LA to network. Who knows, we might hear from JAM or JAMONTHEBEAT very soon.
